About New England Tides
New England's tidal character changes dramatically as you move from west to east. Long Island Sound in Connecticut acts as a partially enclosed basin, producing tides of 2–6 feet with a slight east-to-west lag. Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay sees 4–5 foot ranges. Massachusetts builds to its highest at Boston Harbor — around 9–10 feet — while Cape Cod and the Elizabeth Islands create complex tidal patterns due to shoaling and the shape of the coast.
TideSwell maps all 36 stations on one interactive chart, layered over nautical depth data, so you can read the entire coast at a glance.
